Another big week! After fighting the computer for a few weeks I have finally launched the first page of Stacey College website.
I’m learning a lot about web design. After much difficulty I came up with a design which I ran past my super graphic designer brother. He gave me a list of changes and the transformation was incredible. It suddenly looked professional! Hope you like it too. There is much more to come, but it feels good to have a home page up and functioning.
The logo has impressed all I’ve shown it to so far. Please leave a comment to say what you think about it. Again thanks to my talented brother Cooper. Check out his work at

More businessy stuff with the business bank account up and running, getting an ABN and checking out accounting packages.Work on the marketing continues with designing a brochure and stationary.
Stacey College truly is family business. Not only was it started by two family members but as I go along I seem to be able to draw on the expertise of various family members. My husband has been a great help setting up the blog, making contacts with agents, and is a valuable source of knowledge of the international student market and educational processes. My brother Cooper has designed the logo, stationary and provided website support. This week I’ve had discussions with my Mum about the needs of international students. She and my Dad do voluntary English teaching, have a lot of international experience, and just love multicultural activities. My Dad, who has an economics degree and has taught business courses is helping with that side of things. Mum and Dad are also a great source of babysitting regularly. My other brother Karl, (who has just had his first child) works with websites. I am trying not to bother him (baby is keeping him very busy), but will definitely get him to check over the whole website when it is completed. My daughter (10 years old) has already put dibs on the secretary position as she thinks this will be a good source of pocket money. I always thought I belonged in a family business. It just never crossed my mind before that I would be the one starting it.
I am hoping that this team effort and family environment will translate into a college that is supportive, encouraging and a great place to hang out!
